What Folks Say About Prevention Meets Fashion

  • "Working with Prevention Meets Fashion ..."

Working with Prevention Meets Fashion as a STEAM instructor was life-changing in so many ways. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, trying something new, and showed me the difference that can be made within our community. I met some awesome people who showed up each week to learn something new and scary to them as well.

    — Crystal Carmichael, PMF STEAM Fashion Crochet Instructor

  • "Interning with PMF is an intensely rewarding experience..."

Interning with PMF is an intensely rewarding experience that will challenge social workers to go beyond the traditional lens of how one might view the profession. It is beneficial for interns to have an open mind around sexual health, gender roles, social justice, environmental justice, reproductive justice, and how these and other factors intersect with fashion. Interns need to self-manage and have autonomy with getting tasks and PMF responsibilities completed. Completing an internship with PMF can be an invaluable way to get exposure to wide-ranging macro practice and community engagement.

  • "When you met me I was praying for a solution out of sex work..."

When you met me I was praying for a solution out of sex work, a way to identify myself, a way to pay my bills, and a way to live with purpose. You saved me. I would not be where I am today without you.

You are an unstoppable force. You have modeled so much integrity, authenticity, grace, tact, sharpness, and wit. You whipped me into shape, affirmed my queer identity even when I didn't understand it and uplifted me. You applauded me during my small wins and corrected me when I lacked discipline.

I write this with tears in my eyes and immense gratitude in my heart.
